Some Useful Links for You to Get Started

Feeling the weight of stress in your daily life? Of course you are, there’s a lot of it about. However, for people with ADHD, managing stress can present a uniquest of  challenges. Here I explore five tailored strategies to help you navigate stress more effectively and maintain your focus and well-being.

First things first, break it down: Tackling large tasks all at once can feel overwhelming. Break them into smaller, actionable steps. By focusing on completing one step at a time, you’ll not only make progress but also alleviate the sense of being overwhelmed.

If you haven’t tried it yet I encourage you to embrace mindfulness: I knows, I know, not mindfulness again, but by incorporating mindfulness practices, such as meditation and deep breathing exercises, you can provide a much-needed anchor in moments of stress. These practices cultivate awareness of the present moment, helping to calm a racing mind and enhance overall well-being. And honestly, just 5 to 10 minutes is enough to help you reset and get back in the game.

Routine is key: Consistency is key especially for people with ADHD. Establishing a structured daily routine can provide stability amidst the chaos. Allocate time for work, breaks, and self-care activities to maintain a sense of control and reduce stress. To build n to this top tip building a routine of 10 minutes working and 5 minutes break (see above), consistency, will pay dividends.

Seeking support isn’t a sign of weakness, it’s so much a sign of strength it could be a super power: Never hesitate to lean on your support network during challenging times. Whether it’s seeking guidance from colleagues or confiding in friends and family, sharing your experiences can provide valuable insights and emotional support.

Finally, its really important to prioritise Self-Care: Self-Care isn’t Selfish. Self-care is paramount for managing stress and maintaining and building resilience. So, make time for activities that nourish your mind and body, such as exercise, a walk in nature, hobbies, and relaxation. Remember, investing in your well-being is an investment in your ability to thrive professionally and personally.

I hope that you can see, by implementing these strategies, you can build resilience and effectively manage stress in your professional life. Remember that seeking support is a sign of strength, and prioritising self-care is essential for sustained success.
